HIFU stands for High Intensity Focus Ultrasound and it is a treatment used for lifting, tightening as well as maintenance of the skin. It is a painless and non-surgical treatment. In this treatment the collagen and elastin in your skin will tighten up in order for your skin to be more firm and that way prevent sagging. The treatment is efficient for body sculpting as well as face skin tightening.

HIFU uses high energy ultrasound waves to target specific areas of the body. The temperature in that specific body area will rise and will stimulate the production of collagen.

HIFU can be used to:

  • Tighten the skin on the neck
  • Reduce the appearance of jowls
  • Smooth wrinkles on the face
  • Smooth and tighten chest skin
  • Body Fat Reduction
  • Butt Lift

HIFU can provide a good results in patients with mild to moderate jowls. 2-3 sessions, between 6 – 8 weeks apart  are typically required for best results. The final results can last between 1 to 2 years.

HIFU Post Treatment

This are some of the recommendations to consider after a HIFU session.

Do not lie down on your stomach or sleep on your side for the first 7 – 10 days after the treatment

– Do not go on a restrictive diet to lose weight when you are following HIFU treatment because it will negatively affect the collagen & elastin production.

– A light moisturizer and non-exfoliant cleaner can be used immediately after treatment. Avoid saunas and steam rooms. Skin irritants like Vitamin C, retinol products, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and glycolic acid can be resumed three days post-treatment.

– Keep the skin hydrated post-treatment to accelerate recovery and drink lots of water. This is important in helping your skin recover, and also stimulates collagen production.
